Roses are one element of When Night Falls, a romantic suspense. While writing it, I really enjoyed researching antique roses, and used The Guide to Old Roses.
This is one of my own photos, which I currently use as my ID on Twitter. (I'm updating everything now across the board, so that may change.)
When Night Falls Blurb:
As the town's secret keeper, Uma Thornton has built a quiet, safe life, until the drive-by murder of her best friend. Tormented by his past, Mitchell Warren returns to town to find peace; suspicion turns to him as a serial killer stalks the quiet streets and rose gardens. When Mitchell's bad boy brother, Roman returns, old hatreds and new desire throb in the rose-scented air for Uma's friend, Shelly. Suddenly, Uma is torn from her safety, and tossed into passion and danger with Mitchell when the killer wants his secrets hidden forever....
Reviews:
***** There is much more going on than I could tell you in the synopsis. In fact, more than one romance blooms in the story. A secondary couple adds more spice and the third girlfriend has husband trouble. Good luck trying to figure out who is behind it all. I had several suspects in mind. I gave up trying to figure it out and just enjoyed the story. I loved it and do not hesitate to recommend it to all. *****
Detra Fitch Huntress Reviews
There are three main elements in my own life that formed the basic theme for When Night Falls, a romantic suspense.
1. I grew up in WA State where the roses are gorgeous, though this shot was taken along a street in California. (Do visit The Antique Rose Emporium. It's fascinating.)
2. Then, from the 5th grade through high school and through life, our informal girls' club, The This N That-ers, have continued to be friends.
3. Life in a small town
Put them all together in romantic suspense? Childhood friends, now women, share their lives, the town's history and a love of roses. Then a killer stalks their rose gardens....
When Night Falls will always be my Book of Roses. :)
