ALIKE: Story Weaving and Crocheting

SEASON OF TRUTH NOW IN PAPER PRINT!

BLURB:

Divorced, bitter, and down on luck, Chloe returns to her hometown of Lolo, Wy. The first person she does Not want to meet is Michael Bearclaw, her first love, now a forensic expert.

He's not sweet and out for payback, but her childhood friends, Josy and Angelica welcome her back into the Wild Willows bunch.

Chloe's arrival stirs the past as she tangles with Michael, who is set to have her at last. The Club has controlled the town and people's lives for years and their games aren't nice. As Lolo's dark past unravels, and Chloe and Michael’s attraction heats up, a killer will do anything to hide his secrets.

While working on my current WIP (Work in Progress), I am struck by how much Story Weaving is similar to crocheting. I'm just starting to crochet and basically stick to very simple, i.e. dishcloths, kitchen mats, scarves. Right now, I'm fond of Tunisian hooking, but I pretty well stick to the basic double-crochet stitch.

So there's a beginning and an end thread as you'll see in the photo below. And they have to be worked in, else the deal unravels. So filtering in the beginning of the story, is similar. There's usually a pattern and so far I've only done berets and beanies for patterns, but holding the whole THEME or shape of the thing takes concentration. I crochet at night, repetitive stuff, because my brain has been churning stories all day, or ad work, etc. I like the repetition of a long Tunisian hook, a scarf that keeps going and you can pick up and add to whenever you feel like it. Story Weaving is much more intense, where all the little ends need finishing, which is where my WIP is right now, the second in a series.

This is a heck of a lot of crocheting, folks, and very good therapy.

I like to give these as gifts, selecting whatever to suit the person/occasion, and it's a nice way to wind down my churning stories.

I'd love to hear from you, just WRITE. And that ENewsletter is easily available.
